Creative Crossings programs are a fun and unique way to explore
the mother/daughter relationship, but we do not enter into
a therapeutic relationship. We can, however, offer you resources
if you would like to explore counseling options.
At Creative Crossings, we aim
to create an atmosphere that is supportive, caring, and non-judgmental.
We honor and learn from all the relationships and share successful
strategies.
Creative Crossings is a simple and
fun way to honor and celebrate your relationship. Often, schedules
are so busy that there is little time to acknowledge the great
bond that you have and to really play together. Many mothers
enjoy seeing their daughter take on a leadership role, and
our ‘wish circle” can be very emotional and powerful.
Put simply, Creative Crossings is a fun way to spend an afternoon!
This is a tough
one. Many girls are not interested in coming, but end up having
a wonderful time. In fact, it is often the girls who are most
resistant to the event that have the most profound experience.
Keep this in mind when you tell them about it and maybe offer
then a special incentive to get them invested. Also, encourage
them to invite other friends and their mothers—a true
buy-in for girls this age. I am happy to offer a personal
invitation to your daughters and explain the program to them.
We will
be gluing, cutting and playing, so wear clothing that allows
you to move freely.
Creative
Crossings will be sending out newsletters to let you know
of interesting opportunities for girls and mothers/mentors.
Please tell us of your interests and needs, so that we can
develop future workshops and programs that are helpful for
you and your daughter.
Experiential
Education is comprised of three important components: Experience,
reflection, and application. A mother/daughter pair or the
group as a whole engages in an activity that involves communication
and working together to accomplish a task. This leads naturally
to mother/daughter pairs reflecting on the beauty of their
relationship, the quality of time spent together, their communication
system, and a variety of other relationship components. During
the workshop, the mother/daughter pair discusses how they
can bring what they learned back to the home environment.
Experiential education means learning by doing! We spend
a little time talking, but the main focus is on experiencing
the relationship.
