The Origin of Creative Crossings

As an elementary school counselor, I often worked with girls in 5th and 6th grade on friendship and family challenges. I got to know some of them very well through our career chats, small groups and classroom guidance activities, but in many cases I didn’t know their parents and guardians at all.

I decided to create a program for mothers (or adult females) and daughters. It felt important to create a safe place for them to have fun together, communicate, and share family values and strengths. Participants left with strategies for communicating throughout the teenage years. The program was very moving and I realized that I had discovered something very important and sacred. By popular demand, I held it every year for the next several years. I decided to take a huge leap and offer this experience to more than just the girls at my schools. Starting my own business has been fun and challenging. I have learned so much, but most importantly my dream has come true—I can now offer Creative Crossings to many daughters and mothers, grandmothers and mentors, and help girls to have a successful journey throughout the teenage years.
